Can you not set the 2010 server with Internet access. Use the command line http://exchange.mvps.org/smtp_frames.htmto try and send a message and see if you get any specific error message. Exchange Server 2010 also uses a default receive connector to receive Internet mail. For example, my primary external domain name is brienposey.com, but my Exchange servers reside on an internal domain named production.com.
